Garrapata Beach sits on cliffs that drop hundreds of feet straight into the Pacific. We worked in golden-hour light, when it wraps the rocks and the marine layer thins out at the horizon.

After that we drove south to Bixby Bridge, where the cliffs give way to a bigger sky — open frame, longer focal lengths.

We took the long route. Two-plus hours including driving — the kind of shoot where every location adds another color to the gallery.
