Monterey County banned parking along Highway 1 for 900 feet north and 700 feet south of Bixby Bridge. The ordinance passed 4-0 on June 23, 2026, signs went up the first week of August, and it runs 12 months. The bridge itself is open and the view is unchanged, but the pullouts everyone uses are now a citation. We plan around it: park legally at a nearby turnout or trailhead and shoot from there, or build the session around Garrapata, Soberanes, or Rocky Creek instead. Tell me if Bixby is a must-have and I will sort out the logistics before your date.

The most photographed bridge on the California coast, about 25 minutes south of Carmel on Highway 1. The Castle Rock Viewpoint pullout on the north side has the canonical bridge-and-cove vista.
