What sells Soberanes Trail is the drop. Cliff edge, open sky, a couple silhouetted against the Pacific — we worked in raking light, the kind that arrives once a day and then it's gone.
After that we drove south to Garrapata Beach, where the cliffs give way to a bigger sky — open frame, longer focal lengths.
Then we drove to Bixby Bridge for the cliff-edge angles — sharper light, wider horizons, the kind of frame that makes the surrounding coast look bigger.
Two-plus hours of slow walking, quiet direction, and a couple drives between spots. Each location added a different look to the gallery — coast, cliff, ridge, trees — without the day ever feeling rushed.
Final delivery: 47 retouched photos. First selects within a day, the rest within seven. One of many recent shoots in Big Sur.
