How it went
On the ridge at Vasona Park the light is exposed. No tree cover, just direct sun and a long horizon line. We worked the last forty minutes before sunset.
We took our time. The plan said two hours but we used about an hour and a half, enough to cover the spot from a few different angles without anything feeling rushed.
Trail shoots take more out of you than the photos suggest. Half a mile of walking, a thousand feet of elevation, the right light at the right turn, and then it's over.
