How it went
Old-growth redwoods at UC Santa Cruz block out most of the sun. We shot under filtered light through the canopy, where the air smells like duff and bay laurel and you can hear nothing but creek.
We took our time. The plan said two hours but we used about an hour and a half, enough to cover the spot from a few different angles without anything feeling rushed.
Under three-hundred-foot trees, even a proposal feels small. That's part of why redwood shoots work: the scale puts the moment in perspective.
