There's a window at Bixby Bridge between four and six in the afternoon where the cliffs catch direct light and the water turns deep teal. That's when we shot.
After that we drove south to Soberanes Trail, where the cliffs give way to a bigger sky: wide open, longer focal lengths.
A half-day, in pieces. We worked each location for thirty to forty minutes, then moved on. Different light, different backdrops, but the same loose direction throughout.
Years from now they'll point to one of these photos and remember exactly what the air smelled like that afternoon.
