How it went
Carmel Beach is the kind of beach that doesn't fill up. We shot at the back end of the day, when the sand goes pink and the marine layer pulls in to soften everything.
Two hours of slow walking and quiet direction. No awkward poses, no "say cheese," just a couple who like each other in a place that suited them. We rotated through a couple of micro-locations within the spot, picking up different angles as the sun moved.
Final delivery: 20 retouched photos. First selects within a day, the rest within seven. Carmel keeps delivering this kind of session.
