How it went
Carmel Beach stretches out for miles at low tide. We timed this for the last light, when the wet sand reflects the sky and the crowd thins out to almost nobody.
Two hours of slow walking and quiet direction. No awkward poses, no "say cheese," just a couple who like each other in a place that suited them. We rotated through a couple of micro-locations within the spot, picking up different angles as the sun moved.
Final delivery: 58 retouched photos. First selects within a day, the rest within seven. Another reason Carmel stays on the regular rotation.
