How it went
Carmel Beach stretches out for miles at low tide. We timed this for the last light, when the wet sand reflects the sky and the crowd thins out to almost nobody.
Then we made our way to Carmel Meadows Trail for the beach light — softer color, broader sand, the sun working with the wet sand at the tide line.
Two-plus hours of slow walking, quiet direction, and a couple drives between spots. Each location added a different look to the gallery — coast, cliff, ridge, trees — without the day ever feeling rushed.
Final delivery: 29 retouched photos. First selects within a day, the rest within seven. One of many recent shoots in Carmel.
