How it went
Capitola Beach stretches out for miles at low tide. We timed this for the last light, when the wet sand reflects the sky and the crowd thins out to almost nobody.
After that we drove south to Natural Bridges, where the cliffs give way to a bigger sky: open frame, longer focal lengths.
A half-day, in pieces. We worked each location for thirty to forty minutes, then moved on. Different light, different backdrops, but the same loose direction throughout.
The kind of late-afternoon shoot that turns into a story at the rehearsal dinner a year later.
