How it went
Cliffside light at West Cliff Drive / Mitchell's Cove is the kind that makes everything look bigger. We caught the last hour of sun, with surf breaking on the rocks below and nobody else in the frame.
Two hours of slow walking and quiet direction. No awkward poses, no "say cheese," just a couple who like each other in a place that suited them. We rotated through a couple of micro-locations within the spot, picking up different angles as the sun moved.
Final delivery: 27 retouched photos. First selects within a day, the rest within seven. Another reason Santa Cruz stays on the regular rotation.
