How it went
On the ridge at Golden Gate Overlook the light is exposed. No tree cover, just direct sun and a long horizon line. We worked the last forty minutes before sunset.
From there we drove down to Baker Beach for the back end of the day, when the sand catches pink and the marine layer comes in to flatten everything.
Multi-location shoots are equal parts choreography and improvisation. We mapped the order in advance, but the actual frames came from being patient at each stop until the light cooperated.
Final delivery: 54 retouched photos. First selects within a day, the rest within seven. Another reason San Francisco stays on the regular rotation.
